Grease 9X5 inch loaf pan. In a large bowl, whisk together white, wholewheat flour, oats, wheat germ baking soda and salt. With pastry blender cut in butter until mixture is fine crumbs. In separate bowl, whisk buttermilk with molasses, stir into flour mixture to make soft dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead lightly about 10 times. Shope into a long 8 inch oval and dust top with flour. With serrated knife, cut shallow slash lenghwise down centre and transfer to prepared pan. Bake at 375 degrees (190 C) oven until loaf sounds hollow when tapped on bottom - about 45 minutes. Turn out onto rack and let cool completely before slicing.
