  • 1 tbsp tomato paste add additional to taste /thicken

  • 1 clove garlic or 1 tsp mined garlic
  • 1/2 cup white wine pinot grigio, any variety, optional
  • 1 8 oz cans mushrooms 1 pack fresh mushroooms sliced, optional
  • 1 large bell pepper any color , i prefer red, optional
  • 1 bay leaf fresh or dried
  • 1 sprig sweet basil fresh or dried
  • 8 to 16 ounces ground beef brown the meat, optional ingredient

Boil large pot of water Drop whole tomatoes in for 25-30 seconds, 4 large tomatoes at a time Using slotted spoon move tomatoes to submerge in ice bath- large bowl of ice & water Remove skins from tomatoes Remove seeds from tomatoes if desired Chop tomatoes Sauté onions, garlic, bell pepper, & fresh mushrooms in olive oil till onions are translucent Add tomatoes, tomato paste, wine, bay leaf, salt, and sweet basil Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes Can be adapted with the ingredients listed as optional for vegan, vegetarian, or meat lovers tastes
