  • 1/2 c flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 4 c milk

Melt margarine in skillet over low heat; add flour and stir until creamy consistency. Continue stirring for a minute or so—this is a very important step because you’re browning it, adding flavor. Gradually add milk. Cook on medium-high heat until bubbling, then cook on low-medium heat until desired thickness. May add cooked sausage at this time, if making for biscuits and gravy.
