This recipe is based on the chili my mother used to make during "chili week" I like it because it's not at all spicy and goes really well with peanut butter sandwiches.

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 large green pepper chopped
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 can kidney beans drained
  • 2 large tomatoes diced
  • 1 lb ground beef, or ground turkey
  • 2 cans, large tomato sauce

1. Season beef or turkey with salt and pepper and add to a large pot; brown until no pink is left. Set aside 2. Add onion and green pepper to pot and cook until softened. Drain excess fat and discard 3. Add meat back to pot with vegetables. 4. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes and kidney beans. 5. Add spices and cook covered for 2 hours minimum, stirring occasionally. 6. Add more seasoning as needed to taste.
