Directions (Makes 4 servings): 1) Prep ingredients as directed above. Shrimp, garlic, & creole seasoning. What could go wrong? 2) Leave shells on shrimp for extra flavor. Add fresh shrimp to a mixing bowl and season with the creole Cajun seasoning, onion powder, dried parsley, and pressed garlic. Rub all together to coat all the shrimp. 3) Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once butter is melted, add seasoned shrimp to the hot pan. Do not move shrimp until time to flip. Seriously ; once you learn how to de-vein shrimp on your own, cooking it properly won’t seem so difficult. 4) Cook shrimp on first side 2 to 3 minutes. The side of the shrimp touching the pan will begin to become pink and white and less translucent. The garlic will begin to caramelize in the butter. Turn the shrimp over and cook on the second side 2 to 3 minutes until opaque and fully cooked. 5) Finish by pouring 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and squeezing ½ lemon’s juice over shrimp. Turn off the oven and remove shrimp from the pan to prevent overcooking. 6) Serve over cheesy grits (recipe below). Garnish with green onion slices. Grits Ingredients: Dear Southern Cooks Everywhere: Please don't hate us for recommending the use of instant grits in this recipe. We're trying to provide a low-energy-use version of a classic dish, not start a flame war in the comments. 2 Packs original instant grits (no added flavor) ½ tsp. Creole Cajun seasoning ½ c. Whole milk ¼ c. Water 3 tbsp. Half and half 1 oz. Cream cheese 1/4 c. Mild cheddar cheese, shredded Directions (Makes 2 servings): 1) Empty two packets of original instant grits into a microwave safe bowl. 2) Add creole Cajun seasoning to dry grits and mix together. 3) Mix the milk and water with the dry, seasoned grits. Place the 1 ounce of cream cheese in the middle of the bowl. Seasoning the grits BEFORE you cook them is the secret to packing a punch of flavor throughout each bite. 4) Microwave for 1 minute. Remove from microwave and mix cream cheese together with the grits around it. Add the 3 tablespoons of half and half and mix again. And besides, cheese helps most any dish. 5) Top the grits with the shredded cheese at this point and microwave for 45 more seconds. 6) Remove bowl from microwave, mix together, and taste to make sure grits are cooked through. Serve with shrimp from above recipe. Look at all that tasty food!
