  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup dark rum

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and rum and whisk until the sugar is dissolved. Cook, whisking occasionally until the sauce has thickened (5 to 7 minutes) Add the vanilla and salt and cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
