For very little ingredients, this sauce is very flavourful.
I make large batches of this and portion it and freeze it. I have successfully used it on pizza, pasta, subs, breadsticks, base for soup/chili, chicken parmesan, etc.

Heat oil in a large saucepan. Add onion and cook until soft.
Add garlic and tomato paste, until warm.
Add vegetable stock, tomatoes, sugar, salt & pepper and bring to a boil.
Add parmesan and basil and simmer for 1 hour.
