No-Cook Salad Dressing Orange Winter Gourmet
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 garlic clove

Preparation Mince garlic and mash to a paste with 1/4 teaspoon salt, then whisk together with orange and lime juices, shallot, honey, cumin, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add oil in a slow stream, whisking until well blended, and whisk in pepper. Cooks' note:Toast seeds in a dry heavy skillet over moderate heat, stirring until fragrant and a shade or two darker. Or, toast in a shallow baking pan in a 350°F oven, 5 to 10 minutes.
