  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 lbs beef stew meat
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 6 cups hot water
  • 3 potatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 cup celery
  • 2 cubes beef bouillon
