I tried this when the family was snowed in, with a fire in the fireplace and a football game on TV. Surprising, better than the average beef stew, and definitely a bowl of stick-to-the-ribs comfort food!

1 teaspoon salt
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 cup fresh parsley chopped
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/8 teaspoon allspice
2 1/2 pounds lean beef chuck cubed
1 medium onion (medium to large) cut in 1 inch pieces
8 small red potatos or potato chunks
4 carrots cut in 1 inch pieces
2 large ribs celery cut in 1 inch pieces
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce as required

1. Layer all ingredients except parsley in slow cooker in order given.
2. Cover. Cook on high for 6 hours.
3. Immedietly before serving, garnish with parsley.
