This is not a firehouse hot type of chili. Of course you could make it into that if you desire... I usually double this recipe and add more chili powder to make it hotter and serve it with hot crushed peppers or hot sauces. My older relatives appreciate the mild version.

  • 1 tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp table salt
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef as required
  • 2 tbsp oil as required
  • 1 1/2 cup onions chopped
  • 2 tbsp garlic crushed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin as required
  • 2 tbsp chili powder as required
  • 16 ounces tomatoes as required
  • 16 ounces beans as required

Heat oil in large pot and sautee onion and garlic for 3 - 4 minutes. Add beef cook for 5 minutes longer, stirring often. Add rest of the ingredients, mix thoroughly, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until thick. Stir often.
