  • 4 slices bacon (thin, smoked) halved crosswise
  • 4 whole mushrooms (medium) stems removed

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. - Sprinkle bacon slices generously with cracked black pepper, wrap one slice around each mushroom stretching slightly to fit snugly, no need to use toothpicks to hold them together. - Arrange them seam side down on foil lined baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes; transfer baking sheet under the broiler for 3 minutes to crisp them. Remove from broiler, blot appetizers on paper towels and serve on a platter with toothpicks nearby. Garnish platter with fresh herbs, if desired. - Serve!
