This is a delicious recipe my mom made for years. The only thing I don't use is the jalapeno or bell pepper but, that is just my preference. I don't care for them in this recipe. Otherwise, it is quick and easy to throw together and is great for holidays or picnics.

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 can (28 oz.) bush's country style baked beans
  • 1 medium jalapeno pepper diced (optional)
  • 1/2 medium bell pepper diced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons mustard to taste
  • 1/2 cup hormel bacon bits
  • 1/2-3/4 cup head country hickory bbq sauce to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium-size mixing bowl, add all the ingredients; mix well. Taste test for seasoning. Pour into an oven- safe dish and cover. Bake for 50-60 minutes. PPC-XL : I like to cook this for 30 minutes on the Meat/Chicken button.
