Here is the thing: You do not need to deep-fry them. Less than a cup of coconut or olive oil can do the same trick as a deep fryer. If you have a very good heat-conducting pan, just spritz it with oil and you can also get the outside crunch and the inside tenderness that you want to get in these types of foods.
