There are many versions of this particular style of taco salad but I think that this one is a winner. It has never failed to get rave reviews.

  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 lbs hamburger cooked and drained well
  • 1 pkg taco seasoning reserve 1 t for dressing
  • 1 head romaine lettuce shredded
  • to taste green onion sliced
  • 15 oz beans chef's choice; optional
  • 1/2 bag crushed doritos chef's choice
  • taco salad dressing
  • 8 oz thousand island dressing
  • 1 t reserved taco seasoning
  • to taste picante

Cook hamburger and drain well. Add taco seasoning (reserve 1T for dressing) and blend well. Shred lettuce and add chopped tomatoes, green onion and beans if desired. When ready to serve, add cheese, crushed Doritos and dressing. Mix well and serve immediately. * sour cream and taco sauce are nice additions if desired. Dressing: Blend Thousand Island dressing, sugar, reserved taco seasoning and picante. Mix well and add to salad just before serving.
