This recipe also comes from my mother. I love the buttery taste mixed with the sweet and dijon in the dressing. It's the dressing on this one that makes this so uniquely flavorful.

1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons orange juice
dressing
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
2 heads butter lettuce
1 avocado cut into cubes
2 navel oranges split into slices, then cut in half
Wash the butter lettuce leaves and dry. Toss the leaves together with the orange and avocado segments. Shake up the dressing ingredients then -- before serving -- dress the salad and toss again.
