  • 1/2 cup water plus more if necessary
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or to taste (optional)

1. Put apples, water, and cinnamon (if using) in a small pot. 2. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 minutes, occasionally stirring and mashing apples. Add more water if the liquid is evaporating too quickly. 3. Mash as much as you like. I enjoy a few tender pieces of apple in the sauce.
